Best known as Monica in the long-running television series Touched by an Angel, Derry-born Roma Downey must have needed the patience of a saint to cope with the melodramatic demands made on her in this tear-jerking TV movie. Also known as A Secret Life, it's the kind of film they'd once have made with, say, Jane Wyman as the wife who discovers her husband has a mistress after he's been injured in a plane crash and Margaret O'Brien as the love child from that illicit union. Downey and Kristina Malota do well enough in the roles, but this is pretty heavy going.
